Owner

“I started Shaw Renovations originally to renovate houses for re-sale. I REFUSE to call it flipping because what I do is a love-filled renovation to give someone a like-new house on the inside with all the charm and character of a classic older house. I found that the Nashville area market needed so much more.  Marrying my design skills learned in college, with the project management skills learned working as an engineer, and my people skills, which I can only attribute to God, I wanted to give people a one-stop service to help them build their visions.

My degree from Iowa State University is in Landscape Architecture, but I spent much of my career as an Engineer in the small engine fuel systems industry.  As that industry began to transition to battery power, I transitioned full time to my first love: construction and carpentry.  I am married to a wonderful woman, Sharon, who has her degree in Interior Design and is available to help on projects.   I have a full wood shop, where I have made much of the furniture for our home, as well as custom pieces and even classic doors to match existing in some of the houses I’ve renovated.   

I find when I meet with a client, they have multitudes of ideas and visions swimming around in their minds. It is my job to organize those thoughts and dreams into a way to move forward, planning the job with a goal toward minimizing the impact on their day-to-day lives as they live in a construction site.  I help with design decisions and material selections, tell clients what is structurally feasible within their budget, plan the project so we make proper use of material and labor lead times, and move toward the goal of a beautiful finished product.
